John Bamford Primary

Year 6

My name is Mrs Chattoe and I started work at The John Bamford School in November 2021. I have spent the majority of the last 20+ years teaching Year 6 which I thoroughly enjoy. It is such a privilege to be able to watch the children learn new skills and gain confidence in their own ability.

In my spare time, I love going for walks in the countryside with my three children, miniature dachshund, crazy collie and very patient husband. My favourite place to visit is Wales, so we can see family and relax on the beautiful sandy beaches – weather permitting!

My name is Miss Phillips and I have worked at The John Bamford Primary for 19 years across all key stages from Nursery to Year 6.  When I am not teaching, I love to read, paint and spend time with my family, including my Cocker Spaniel, Charlie.

Bienvenu, I am Mrs Palmer-Hayward and I am enthused to be teaching year 6 this year. As a musician, I am proficient in piano, keyboard, clarinet, and saxophone. I thoroughly enjoy various forms of artistic expression. My passion for the arts extends beyond personal expression to community involvement. I take pride in producing my choir, orchestrating harmonies that uplift and inspire. Attending musicals allows me to immerse myself in the enchanting world of theatre, where I can share my love for music and performance with other likeminded individuals. My dedication to both creating and experiencing a variety of art forms, enriches not only my own life but also the lives of those around me.

Teaching and learning in Year 6 is through a range of exciting and stimulating adventures. We encourage the children to become fully immersed in their learning and foster their growing independence and responsibility through mature programmes of study.

As part of the Year 6 adventures, children will be exploring a range of subjects, which focus on local, national and global aspects to support our vision and values.

In Year 6, children continue their learning of multiplication facts as part of their daily Maths lessons; they will be given the opportunity to practice their recall of multiplication facts up to 12 x 12 and beyond – squared, cubed and prime numbers.

All children in Year 6 will continue swimming lessons during the autumn term. All children will have the opportunity to continue to learn to play the guitar.
