John Bamford Primary

YEAR 1 & 2

My name is Miss Bracebridge and I am a Year 1 and 2 teacher at The John Bamford Primary School. This is my fifth year teaching here. I love all subjects but especially those that allow me to be creative! I am responsible for Music, RE and MFL here at school and will also be involved in running the Performing Arts Club again soon.

My name is Miss Brown and I will be teaching in Year 1/2. This is my third year teaching at The John Bamford Primary School and it has flown by as I love teaching here. I love literacy, art and anything that involves being creative! In my spare time, I enjoy keeping fit and taking my dog on walks along Cannock Chase.

My name is Mr Evans and I have been in teaching for 8 years working across Key Stage 2 and recently Key Stage 1. I am very excited to be continuing my role at John Bamford in Year 1/2 this year! I enjoy travelling, exercising and anything involving technology! My favourite subjects are Maths, Science, Geography, PE and History.

In Year 1, children continue their learning of Phonics in preparation for the Phonics Screening Check in June. In these lessons, children are set weekly spellings linked to the common exception words for Year 1. Your child will read with an adult at school but reading regularly at home will support your child’s reading development and progress.

From the moment children enter Year 1, we work alongside parents/guardians to build their child’s independence. This means that we ask that they come into the cloakroom by themselves and are responsible for their belongings and actions. If your child has shoes that have laces, please practise tying these laces with your child.

Teaching and learning in Year 2 is through a range of exciting and stimulating adventures. We encourage the children to become fully immersed within their learning and foster a sense of independence and responsibility.

We will be looking at a range of adventures with focuses on local, national and global aspects.
