John Bamford Primary

YEAR 1 & 2

My name is Miss Archer and I am a Year 1/2 teacher at The John Bamford Primary School. I am Phase Two Team Leader and I am part of the Senior Leadership Team. I have worked across both key stages and I am looking forward to my first year working at The John Bamford Primary School. I enjoy teaching across the curriculum, but my favourite areas to teach are PE, Forest School and Maths.

My name is Mrs. McClean. I am Online Safety and Computing Lead for the school. I am passionate about using technology to support learning in all areas of the curriculum. In my spare time, I love reading and looking after my young son. I am greatly looking forward to teaching in years 1 and 2.

My name is Miss Bradbury, and I am a teacher in Years 1/2. This will be my first year teaching at The John Bamford Primary School.  I enjoy teaching all subjects, but I especially like Science and PSHE.  In my spare time, I try my hand at a bit of DIY around the house. I love spending time with my two daughters and taking my pug Gus on lots of long walks on Cannock Chase.

In Year 1, children continue their learning of Phonics in preparation for the Phonics Screening Check in June. In these lessons, children are set weekly spellings linked to the common exception words for Year 1. Your child will read with an adult at school but reading regularly at home will support your child’s reading development and progress.

From the moment children enter Year 1, we work alongside parents/guardians to build their child’s independence. This means that we ask that they come into the cloakroom by themselves and are responsible for their belongings and actions. If your child has shoes that have laces, please practice tying these laces with your child.

Teaching and learning in Year 2 is through a range of exciting and stimulating adventures. We encourage the children to become fully immersed within their learning and foster a sense of independence and responsibility.

We will be looking at a range of adventures which focus on local, national and global aspects.
